Life is not fair, tension and gravity are what exist.
I love dogs, as pure animals
Hands on figure it out as we go
There are no mistakes
Lay off the dope
Show up on time
Styrofoam in the water
In a tank
My ceramic sculpture is meditative and interactive, absorbing context through existence. I am inspired by geological evolution and human development. Through playful openness, I find new connections, see new combinations of history everyday.
It is important to at least acknowledge that everything has a deep and sincere past.
Earth as body
I believe experimentation must to be open to an unknown outcome of play, trial, and dialogue. At some point it became more about the process of learning than this final, predetermined product; and occasionally we are more true to our intensions in the middle of something than when it is complete.
“The birds need food too” says the bird nibbling my muffin crumbs and I. He appears on the railing when I step outside, then to the chair much closer. He knows who I am and that I speak to him with more clarity than among people. He loves the walnuts. This bird is my friend in the way a father provider is the baby’s. The adorable way his beak clips against the wood when he wipes away the crumbs makes me happy. The way he hops about along the pots I made and planted is my heaven. Using ceramics as his architecture…
We are cohabiters.
Clean up and cleanse your digital health. You are ill, but you are not ill. Your files are corrupt but your legs and eyes work just fine. The bones in your body continue as they would but your mind is cloudy and full of concern.
Evolution now includes plastics and things we as humans produced that are now being cycled. Like the Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide or food for bile trade we have with plants; we exhibit the same relationship (though less need–based for now), with these materials. We create things, they fill the Earth, and then we reclaim them and continue. The Evolution of it is that other species are also reclaiming this processed material energy and as we all know, you are what you eat.
I continue to consider the universe’s responsiveness.
My feelings recently have been in regards to the in exchange between organism and home. The transfer of data, physical information, energy, effort, and bacteria opens the floor to how our ability to coexistence develops. This is a balanced give and take. This can refer to the dishes being done by everyone individually or as we are all fond of, when the cook doesn’t clean. This is equality- one of many forms.
With barnacles pooping plastic back into the ocean, I do not think we have done a fair job.
It is not far beyond lost though. No matter who you meet, regardless of their station, age, size, whatever, you are always and forever equals. No matter if she is your boss or friend, the train driver, or-
There is no hierarchy that makes anyone more human.
